Welcome To The Myopia Control Center Of Illinois
Through the use of therapeutic contact lenses that you wear while you sleep, you can reduce and eliminate your myopia (nearsightedness). The procedure is called Ortho-Keratology. It is done by using specifically designed retainer lenses that gently reshape your cornea as you sleep. It works like how a retainer works for you teeth.
This program can eliminate your need to wear contacts and glasses during the day. Ortho-K is an FDA approved method for temporarily reducing myopia in children.…

What Is Myopia?
Myopia (Nearsightedness) is a common vision condition diagnosed during a basic eye exam. For those who are nearsighted, objects that are farther away appear blurry.…
Myopia is caused by genetics as well as environmental factors. For example, staring at any object for too long can cause the eye to elongate–it’s this elongation that leads to myopia. When left un-diagnosed and untreated, myopia puts you at greater risk for developing cataracts sooner, being 2-3 times more likely to develop glaucoma, and you have an increased risk of retinal detachment. According to the World Health organization, Myopia is now considered a major health concern in the United States and globally.
