LASIK / Surgical Co-Management

Our doctors are not surgeons, which is why our patients turn to us first for an unbiased, expert opinion when they’re considering surgery. We pride ourselves in knowing your eyes and your options, and helping you make the best decision for you.

In addition, we also have close working relationships with many excellent surgeons around the Elgin and greater Chicagoland area and will recommend the right surgeon for you and your unique situation. We provide surgical comanagement services as well, which means we can conveniently perform much of the pre-operative and post-operative care that you need.

Refractive Surgery / LASIK / PRK

Our doctors believe that refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK are the most common) can be a great option for the right candidate. Lasik and other refractive surgeries are fully elective procedures performed with the goal of eliminating or significantly reducing your need for glasses or contact lenses. We act as your trusted guide to ensure you have a great experience and achieve the results you expect.

cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is the process of replacing the eye’s natural lens (which can become cloudy due to normal aging, medications, or trauma) with a crystal-clear lens implant. Cataract surgery is a medically-necessary procedure, but you will have many more options than most procedures allow. Depending on your needs and priorities, the best lens implant for you may be a basic monofocal lens, an astigmatic lens, a multifocal, or a combination of these and other features. As always, we help you make the best choice before you go in for surgery.

cXL / Corneal Collagen Crosslinking

Crosslinking is a procedure done to strengthen the cornea- the clear front window of the eye. This procedure is newer than those above, and is available for patients with progressive corneal disease such as keratoconus or pellucid marginal degeneration. The goal of crosslinking is to stabilize the cornea and prevent degenerative changes. This is a wonderfully vision-saving procedure for those who are diagnosed and treated early in the disease process, making it critical that you keep up with your routine eye care. Our detail-oriented doctors can often diagnose and comanage your treatment before you even realize there is a problem.

mIGS / Minimally-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery

Minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery is another relatively new category which has done wonders for our patients. Glaucoma is a relatively common, progressive, and potentially blinding disease, which has traditionally been treated first with eye drops and then with invasive, risky surgery as a last option. Newer laser and minor surgical innovations have dramatically improved patient quality of life, and are even considered as a first-line option due to their excellent safety profile. MIGS and laser procedures do not eliminate your need for regular examinations, but can often reduce or eliminate your need for eye drops, while gaining better control of the disease.
